Autumn is the great season to visit Kamakura. A couple is trying Omikuji— the sacred fortune— in front of the main shrine building. People say more bad luck Omikuji in a Hachiman shrine's Omikuji box, and there is a reason. If you get the bad one, it means "Good." The bad luck Omikuji is telling you that your luck is at the bottom and will be ascending FROM NOW ON. Get it?
Please keep in mind: When the wedding ceremony is taking place at Maidono building, please do not step in the center path between Maidono and the main shrine building on top of the stairs. The center path is for the spirit of Hachiman only, not for the humans. If you are stepping in, you are insulting both a new couple and the spirit.
